What is a Hydrogen Bond?
Hydrogen bond is definned as the weak force of attraction which binds hydrogen atom of one molecule with the highly electronegative atom(F,O,N) of the molecule of same or different covalent compounds.
Actually hydrogen bond is a special type of permanent dipole dipole interaction.

Example of Hydrogen Bond
when a hydrogen atom is covalently bonded to a highly electronegative atom like F atom ,then the electron pair forming bond is very much shifted to F atom.
So F atom acquires a partial negative charge and the H atom a partial positive charge. Then HF becomes a polar molecule.
So F atom acquires a partial negative charge and the H atom a partial positive charge. Then HF becomes a polar molecule.
In such a polar (HF)
molecule H-atom is attracted strongly by neighbouring F atom of another molecule.
This attraction is known as H-bond.It is denoted by dotted line''..............''.
As a result of H-bonding H-F exists as a cluster of H-F molecules and is represented by( H-F)n.
