【4 Tips】Characteristics of hydrogen bonding

Characteristics of hydrogen bonding

Hello!Today I am going to share with you  important characteristics of hydrogen bonding.

●Hydrogen bond is electrostatic in nature.

●The strength of hydrogen bond is generally 20  to 40 kJ  mol−1; while the strength of ordinary chemical bond is between 200 to 400 kJ mol−1.

Characteristics of Hydrogen Bonding

●But H-bond has important effects on the physical properties of the compounds. For example, the compounds with hydrogen bond have higher melting and boiling points than related other compounds without hydrogen bond.

●Although covalent compounds are generally insoluble in water but covalent compounds with hydrogen bond are soluble in water.
