Rubidium(Rb) Have?
Hello, chemistry lover! today we are going to help you to find out how many neutrons rubidium (Rb) have in just 3 steps.
Hello, chemistry lover! today we are going to help you to find out how many neutrons rubidium (Rb) have in just 3 steps.
Descriptio
To find out the number of neutrons for rubidium (Rb) ,we have to have knowledge about atomic number, atomic mass, mass number of rubidium (Rb)
.Click picture to see clearly.
Step-1:
●The atomic number of rubidium (Rb) is the number of protons in rubidium (Rb)'s nucleus.
●The atomic mass of rubidium (Rb) is the average number of protons plus neutrons of all the isotopes of rubidium (Rb) .
●The masss number of rubidium (Rb) is the number of protons plus neutrons of a specific isotope of rubidium (Rb) .
Step-2:
We need to convert atomic mass of rubidium (Rb) to mass number of rubidium (Rb) by rounding if necessary (In case of fraction) .
From periodic table,
●Atomic number of rubidium (Rb) is 37.
●Atomic mass of rubidium (Rb) is 85.47
●To find out mass number,we need to round 85.47 to a whole number. So,by rounding,we are getting mass number of rubidium (Rb).The mass number of rubidium (Rb) is 85.
Step-3:
By the difference between mass number and atomic number of rubidium (Rb),we get the number of neutrons in rubidium (Rb) .
●Number of neutrons=85-37=48
In another way,
●Mass number=Protons +Neutrons
Or,85 =37+Neutrons
Or,85-37=Neutrons
Therefore,
Neutrons=48
Therefore, the number of neutrons in rubidium (Rb) is 48 here for this isotope.Remember that neutrons are present in the nucleous of rubidium (Rb)and it's charge is zero.
●Number of protons in rubidium (Rb) is 37.Protons are present in the nucleus of rubidium (Rb).
● Number of electrons in rubidium (Rb) is 37.Remember that number of electron equals to proton in a neutral atom.Eletrons are present outside of nucleus of rubidium (Rb) .
