To find out the number of neutrons  for  tin(Sn) ,we have to have knowledge about atomic number, atomic mass, mass number of  tin(Sn)
.Click picture to see clearly.

                    Step-1:

●The atomic number of
tin(Sn)  is the number of protons in tin(Sn) nucleus.

●The atomic mass of
tin(Sn)   is the average number of  protons plus neutrons of all the isotopes of   tin(Sn) .

●The masss number of
tin(Sn)  is the number of protons plus neutrons of a specific isotope of  tin(Sn)   .

How Many Neutrons Does tin(Sn) Have?

                    Step-2:

We need to convert atomic mass of
tin(Sn)  to mass number of  tin(Sn) by rounding if necessary (In case of fraction) .

From periodic table,

  ●Atomic number of
 tin(Sn) is 50.

●Atomic mass of
tin(Sn) is 118.7

●To find out mass number,we need to round
118.7 to a whole number.

So,by rounding,we are getting the  mass number of tin(Sn).The mass number of tin(Sn) (we are getting) is 119.

                    Step-3:

How Many Neutrons Does tin(Sn) Have?

By the difference between mass number and atomic number of
tin(Sn),we get the number of neutrons in tin(Sn).

●Number of neutrons=119-50=69

In another way,

●Mass number=Protons +Neutrons

Or,119 =50+Neutrons

Or,119-50=Neutrons

Therefore,
Neutrons=69

Therefore, the number of neutrons in tin(Sn) is 69 here for this isotope.Remember that neutrons are present in the nucleous of tin(Sn) and it's charge is zero.

●Number of protons in
tin(Sn) is 50.Protons are present in the nucleus of tin(Sn) .

● Number of electrons in
tin(Sn)  is 50.Remember that number of electron equals to proton in a neutral atom.Eletrons are present outside of nucleus of tin(Sn)  .
