What is a Period and Group on the Periodic table of elements in Chemistry?

What is Periodic Table?

Periodic table may be defined as the arrangement of all the known elements according to their similarities in properties in a tabular form so that most similar elements fall within the same vertical column known as group and dissimilar elements are in different groups.Remember that the horizontal lines or rows on the periodic table are called periods and the vertical columns in the periodic table are called  groups.
