【●】What Is the Sodium Carbonate Formula?

Na₂CO₃ is the formula for sodium carbonate.

Explanation:

Hello!everyone, today I am going to show you how to write sodium carbonate formula or formula of  sodium carbonate.

Sodium carbonate

Step-1:We know that sodium is in group I in the periodic table. This means Na+.That is the oxidation number of sodium will be 1+.

Step-2:Now we need to know the formula of carbonate. The formula for carbonate is

CO₃2-

Step-3:Now place the two ion side by side.

           Na+CO₃2-

Step-4:Now we see that the charge of Na+ is +1 and carbonate ion is 2-.So balance positive charge and negative charge,we need to place 2 as subscript of sodium,Na+.Thus we get the following formula of sodium carbonate.

                Na₂CO₃

Step-5:The structural formula of sodium carbonate is given below.

Step-5:Now watch this video.
