What Is NH3 Compound Name?

The NH3 compound name is ammonia or nitrogen trihydride.Actually, the common name of NH3 is ammonia and the systematic or IUPAC name for NH3 is
nitrogen trihydride. Also, the IUPAC name of NH3 is ammonia. The IUPAC has recognized the common name of NH3 as systematic name.

NH3 Compound Name

Explanation:

In NH3 compound, both nitrogen and hydrogen are nonmetals,so to name NH3 compound we will apply the rules for binary compounds with two non metals.

Rules:

 1. Firstly, write the name for the first element using a prefix if there is more than one atom.

2. Then, write the stem of the second element and add the suffix -ide. Use a prefix to indicate the number of atoms for the second element.

●Remember that two nonmetals form a covalent compound.

●Notice that The name of the second element retains the -ide ending as though it were an anion.

Now for NH3 compound,we get nitrogen trihydride.
