【5 Steps】Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide||Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide Balanced Equation

Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide||Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Hydroxide Balanced Equation

Today we are going to Balance the reaction between hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide  in just five steps.

HCl (aq)+ NaOH(aq) =NaCl (aq)+H₂O(l)

Hydrochloric acid reacts with sodium hydroxide to form sodium chloride salt and water. This is an exothermic reaction.

This reaction is also called neutralization reaction because acid HCl reacts base NaOH to form salt NaCl and water H₂O.

Here is the reaction.

HCl (aq)+NaOH(aq)→ NaCl(aq)+H₂O(l)

TO balance ,follow the following steps.

                     Step-1:

Write the equation like this and count atoms from both sides.

HCl +NaOH→ NaCl+H₂O

Reatants                   Products

H  → 1+1=2                H → 2

Cl → 1                        Cl→ 1

O→1                          O→1

Na →  1                       Na→ 1

                     Step-2:

Balance hydrogen first. The number of hydrogen is already balanced.

HCl +NaOH→ NaCl+H₂O

Reatants                  Products

H  → 1+1=2                H → 2

Cl → 1                        Cl→ 1

O→1                          O→1

Na →  1                       Na→ 1

                     Step-3:

Now balance chlorine. The number of chlorine is already balanced.

HCl +NaOH→ NaCl+H₂O

Reatants               Products

H  → 1+1=2                H → 2

Cl → 1                        Cl→ 1

O→1                          O→1

Na →  1                       Na→ 1

                      Step-4:

Now balance oxygen atoms. The number of oxygen atom is already balanced.

HCl +NaOH→ NaCl+H₂O

Reatants                 Products

H  → 1+1=2                H → 2

Cl → 1                        Cl→ 1

O→1                          O→1

Na →  1                       Na→ 1

                  Step-5:

Now balance sodium atom. This is already balanced.

HCl +NaOH→ NaCl+H₂O

Reatants                Products

H  → 1+1=2                H → 2

Cl → 1                        Cl→ 1

O→1                          O→1

Na →  1                       Na→ 1

Now  use change arrow this  sign→.

HCl +NaOH --->NaCl+H₂O

The above  equation is balanced equation for sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid.

Notice that each side of the equation have 2H,1Cl, 1O,1Na.
