Balanced Chemical Equation for Potassium Hydroxide And Sulfuric Acid
Now I will balance sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide chemical reaction.
Step-1:write the reaction.
Step-1:write the reaction.
H₂SO₄ +KOH ----->K₂SO₄ +H₂O
Step-2:In the left side, we have
H
SO₄
K
O
To balance this reaction means we need to equalize the number of these above atoms and polyatomic ion from both sides.
Step-3:Now balance K atom first.In the left hand side,we have one K but in the right side,we have two K.So to balance K ,we need to put 2 before KOH in the left side.
H₂SO₄ +2KOH ----->K₂SO₄ +H₂O
Step-3:Now balance H.
After step 3 we are getting...
H₂SO₄ +2KOH --->K₂SO₄ +H₂O
In the left hand side,we have 4 hydrogens but in the right side ,we have 2 hydrogen's.So we need to place 2 before H₂O in the right side. So we are getting...
H₂SO₄+2KOH --->K₂SO₄ +2H₂O
Step-4:Now balance SO4
Ater step 3, we are getting...
H₂SO₄ +2KOH --->K₂SO₄ +2H₂O
In the left side ,we have one SO₄ and in the right side we have one SO₄ .So the number of SO₄ is already balanced.
Step-5:Now balance O.
After step-4,we are getting...
H₂SO₄ +2KOH ----->K₂SO₄ +2H₂O
In the left side ,we have 6 oxygen and on the right,we have six oxygen.So the number of oxygen is already balanced.So we are getting the following equation that is totally balanced.
H₂SO₄ +2KOH --->K₂SO₄ +2H₂O
Step-6:Use = sign instead of -
--->
H₂SO₄ +2KOH =K₂SO₄ +2H₂O
Step-7:Now watch this video
