Nitrogen(N2) and Hydrogen(H2) React to Form Ammonia(NH3) Balanced Equation
Today we are going to Balance the reaction between nitrogen(N2) and hydrogen(H2) in just 3 steps.
N₂+ H₂→NH₃
Nitrgen reacts with hydrogen to form ammonia. This is an exothermic reaction.
Here is the reaction.
N₂+ H₂→NH₃
TO balance ,follow the following steps.
Step-1:
Write the equation like this and count atoms from both sides.
N₂+ H₂ → NH₃
Reatants Products
H → 2 H → 3
N → 2 N →1
Step-2:
Balance hydrogen first. Now update the number of nitrogen.
N₂+3H₂ →2NH₃
Reatants Products
H → 2×3=6 H → 3×2=6
N → 2 N →1 × 2=2
Step-3:
Now balance nitrogen. The number of nitrogen is already balanced.
N₂+3H₂ →2NH₃
Reatants Products
H → 2×3=6 H → 3×2=6
N → 2 N →2
Now change arrow sign→to equal sign (=).
N₂+3H₂ =2NH₃
The above equation is balanced equation for hydrogen and nitrogen .
Notice that both sides of the equation have 6H and 2N.
